Ok, so Ive recently bought the ASUS Maximus Formula and Ive had nothing but errors and faults! I am now not willing to even think about spending money on another ASUS board. It's not worth it, in my opinion.

Anyway, so I'm asking you really.. I have a q6600 and Im wondering what is the best motherboard IN YOUR OPINION that fits the following spec:

- Support for Core 2 CPU's
- Futureproof
- FEATURE PACKED
- Good overclocker
- Support for lots of RAM
- Crossfire Compatible (Is it possible to get Crossfire AND SLI compatible?)

Etc. things like that really. I don't want to go DDR3 just yet as the prices are through the roof! However I'd like the board to be able to support upcoming chips :]

Hope you guys can suggest a few boards for me! All replys will be appreciated!

Many thanks,

Adam

SLI and crossfire on the same board is never gonna happen, nvidia are keeping SLI to nvidia chipsets only.

I found nothing but errors with the striker extreme board aswell, and came to the same conclusion, never ever touch asus.

Really, features only complicate the board thats why the asus boards are so bad, too much crap tacked on that just affects stability too much.
I'm holding out for an XFX or EVGA board, all reviews of the new 780i reference boards from those 2 say they are great, support SLI, plenty of ram, overclock easily, stable and support any core 2 you throw at it.

As you appear to just want the "best" board you can, i'd go for either one of the X48 boards (the Rampage Formula or DQ6) if you prefer to have Crossfire, or one of the 780i boards if you want SLi (the Striker II Formula and P5N-T Deluxe appear to be the ones in stock).

Don't just chuck Asus as you've had one bad board. It happens. My P5K-VM plays up something chronic sometimes, but it wouldn't stop me buying another board from them. You have just as much chance of getting a duff board if you buy from any manufacturer.

What sort of error's and faults? It could be a memory incompatibility? Have you used the latest bios and drivers?

SLI and crossfire on the same board is never gonna happen, nvidia are keeping SLI to nvidia chipsets only.

So what about the Intel D5400XS Skulltrail? it gives you the choice of running CrossFire or SLI...but at a huge price.

there is no futureproof LGA775 mobo - new Intel socket by the end of the year.

For a DDR2 Crossfire, feature packed mobo I would probably go for an IX38 QuadGT myself but I would try RMAing the Maximus mobo first (assuming that it's the mobo & not something else).
