But 2 ides 4 satas will do
Dont play games just video editing
and always had asus boards in past

like to go for this new dual core thingy as seems to do the things i need
also been looking on COMPETITOR! at ide to sata convertas that plug into ide hard drives any ever tried one of them out
aint asking a lot am i :)

ASUS P5N-E SLi is ~£70, overclocks well, has 2 PATA ports, 4 SATA ports and will even run SLi if you decide you need it in the future.

Gigabyte DS4 has 8 SATA Ports (6+2 on 2 controllers) but only one PATA port.

If you really need 6 SATA ports it might be more economical to get a cheaper board and throw some of the savings at an add-in controller card.

Do you plan on overclocking?

and whats a pata ?
PATA is IDE. They retroactively renamed it to distinguish it from SATA.

If you're not overclocking you can really get a dirt-cheap mobo as long as it has the features you are looking for.

ASUS P5N-E SLi looks good but it seems to be fussy on memory

There are some combinations of CPU and DDR2 speeds that don't work, but it's really only if you're heavily overclocking.

now whats a good cpu to go with it

E6600 if you're not overclocking.
