Just wondering what the best software is out there to convert avi, mpeg etc to dvd format? With the ability to put your own chapters, menu's etc.

Ideally I would like some software that really takes advantage of multi-threading.

Any ideas?

There can be only one:

ConvertXtoDVD

This is a very good program I can run 4 instances of it encoding 4 avi's in each program which are 350mb and each dvd took under a hour which was great and it also burns the dvd files to dvd for you :).

I've been encoding for years now, but I'm now looking for a 1-click application (not literially 1-click, but not swapping between 3-4 applications) that will preserve the Hi-Def sharpness. I've tred WinAVI, but it doesn't quite keep the sharpness, even with 'quality over time' selected.

I know encoding will take more time as it'll take longer to process etc, but like I said, I'd rather set it to encode, leave the computer and when I get back it's done.

Any ideas? ;)

Considering you have C2D give CovertXtoDVD a try, believe me, you won't be disappointed.

convertxtodvd only uses one core though doesn't it? (or at least it does on my dual core opteron)

That maybe so, but doesn't the extra core allow for multi tasking while encoding? I know my previous chip, AMD Athlon64 3500+ became almost useless once I started ConvertXtoDVD. Now that I installed the X2 3800 its a different story :D
