best software for converting video formats??

Looking for a decent free software even if it just a trail to convert a few videos my brother needs converting.

Any recommendations??

Handbrake.

MeGUI is probably the best, but if you want a very good one that's easy to learn, go for handbrake.

I used to use handbrake a couple of years ago. I found it quite quick to get up and running with it.
