Just got myself a HTC TyTN II and I think its a great phone. The best thing about it is that I know if can be made better!

So what programs do people use on their Windows Mobile Phones and why do you find them useful ?

So what programs do people use on their Windows Mobile Phones and why do you find them useful ?

What kind of apps you looking for ?

Games

Entertainment

Office/Work

Also, how do you find it responds in terms of opening programs or using the gps on it?

GPS took a while to get going on the first use, but I've now used it with google map and tom tom and it works great.

I don't really need any games but anything else people find useful

HTC Task Manager - allows you to actually close applications when you tap X, rather than minimising. You can also set up exceptions.

Batti - Excellent, free, low resource battery meter.

TCPMP - Free media player. Plays virtually every video file out there.

HTC Home Screen - Home Screen utility that shows time (large font), emails, messages and missed calls. There's also tabs for Favourite people where you simply tap on their picture to dial, a weather update, shortcut to applications and a profiles tab.

SPB Backup - Excellent system backup software. I set mine to create an image once a week stored on the memory card.

Resco Explorer - Miles better than the default file explorer. If you want a free one, check out Total Commander. Just as good.

MemMaid - System maintenance utility.

Tom Tom - Well, bit obvious!

Ms Live Search - Great if you want to find something local and want to see it on a map.

Games - Got Worms installed and also scummvm. The latter allows you to play all of those Lucasarts classics like Monkey Island and Indiana Jones.:D

just got mobipocket installed on my vario 2 and its a great little ebook reader install the desktop one then connect you tytn 2 to your pc and the software installs it for you it converts other formats straight away and syncs them for you mobipocket link

Just installed SCUMMVM now I just need to find Monkey Island for it!

Apart from that I need to get the TomTom maps for as many places as possible and see how much space they need.

Got mine last week and after reading modaco/xda-developers a lot I've currently got the following:

Apps
SPB Wallet - keeps account numbers etc, syncs with PC (encrypted)
Opera - seems to render better than IE
Skype - duh
PocketRAR - see above
wmIRC - IRC client
Messenger - MSN client
(tried Fring, didn't seem to get on with Skype....)
Resco Photo viewer - far better than the built in viewer

GPS
Tomtom - again, duh
Windows Live - handy for searching, comes with map function
Google maps - quite nifty too

System stuff
Resco Explorer + Registry addin - a must, great file explorer, enabled ftp and registry access, formats, encryption, zipping... sending of files easily etc etc
Sprite backup - good backup tool that can restore your device from scratch
Thunder WM5torage - allows your storage card to be mounted as a mass storage device in XP
Slipstream Blue Schedule - schedules when bluetooth is turned on/off (I'm lazy)
SPB GPRSMonitor - comes with the phone, worth keeping on top of your data usage
Cambridge vxUtil - ping/trace/etc
Batti - as above, great little battery app
BTAudioToggle - redirects all audio through your BT headset, even if mono/no A2DP

Input
T9 Phone pad - emulates a normal phone pad with T9... great for texting
Pocket CM Keyboard - bigger keyboard that you can use with your fingers
Pocket CM Contacts - HTC touch like interface for your contacts, can scroll using fingers and also has text threading support
Q Inbox Extender - allows you to mark all as read in email :D

Audio/Visual
TCPMP+plugins+flashvideobundle - as above, plays everything under the sun
RealOne Player - to stream BBC radio
Resco Pocket Radio - to stream other radio...
FlashPlayer ActiveX

Games
SPB Brain Evolution - not in to games...

Phone is getting to how I want it... sort of looking in to Textr (text threading) but heard there's a few issues with it (plus the trial won't work on my phone) so a bit wary.

I've been trying to sync it with my Outlook contacts and I'm having issues now.

The device sees the contacts (in its syncing process it shows 0/21) but then they never show on the device. The same happens with Calendar entries.

I thought it might be something to do with Outlook 2007 to start with, but they give a trial of it away with the phone so it should be compatible. I've also tried the copy of activesync on both the CD and off of Microsoft's website with no luck.

Games:

ScummVM
Worms World Party

Are your contacts in the main account or do you have seperate inbox's with their own contacts?
