Best Software to control another Mac (like Teamviewer)

My parents are new to Mac and as such they are having fun(!) getting used to all of the differences between windows and osx. They've had their Macbook Air a little while now and when they get stuck I used to jump on with Teamviewer to show them what to do (they live 40 minutes away so that is quick and easy).

Cue phonecall the other day, I go to use Teamviewer (for the first time in a couple of months) and it seems I couldn't get it to do anything on my Mac and as I'm a TalkTalk customer I can't even get on their website anymore.

Can anyone recommend some similar software I can put on both machines please?

I see my parents a couple of times a week so it's easy to jump on when I'm there, but inevitably I'll get a phone call at 10pm asking me to do a little favour for them.....

Cheers

Probably something to do with them allowing all their customer data to be hacked and stolen...

"Good evening madam, I am calling from Microsoft"

"I have a Mac"

"Yes that's correct, the Windows on your Mac has a virus, please be installing TeamWuewer and I will assist. For security purposes what is your mother's maiden name and your date of birthing?"
...

On a side note, my mother in law had issues with stuff working (Inc WhatsApp, teamviewer) because of the adult content filter being enabled, Virgin media. Once that was disabled everything was fine

Do you have a Mac as well? If so, you can remote control their Mac from the Messages app.
