I have the Meridian but for your budget you won't be disapointed.

Edited to add - it's just outside your budget but worth it in my opinion, the realtime DD/DTS encoding is fantastic.

cheers wilno the sound card will be hooked upto the jvc gate TH-L1 and my astro gaming headset both via optical. i think i'll got with this1 unless theres better around for the price range im in
