Best spyware application

I have been using Spy Bot - Search and Destroy for as long as I can remember, but lately been reading some reviews that it is no longer as good as it used to be.

Can anybody recommend what is the best free spyware application that is around nowadays.

ad-aware I think is the best one. Doesn't give live protection but certainly the best scanner.

I'd go with that, always used the Adaware free edition, never had a problem. You can get Adaware 2007 now but if your using Vista 64 it has some problems.

Seconded... Spybot S&D is dirty and just rips it out... adaware removes it cleanly..

Spybot sd gets my vote, gave up using ad-aware as the new version sucks with vista and ive always found spybot picks things up better outa the two.

AVG anti spyware free edition the resident shield is disabled...

For XP i use SpywareBlaster and Spybot S&D + AVG Anti virus Free Edition

For Vista i Use AVG free Edition and Windows Defender...
