The title says it all really.

There was a time, up until recently, when I would need a game to look reasonably good in order for me to play it. My view has changed since playing some of the indie games and a few others from a few years back. I am more interested in the storyline and immersiveness than graphics alone now. This led me to think...what is the best storyline I have had the pleasure of playing through.

Hands down it has to be Mass Effect 1 & 2. A couple of the first games that had me so 'into' the game that i actually completed them.

What about you?

Dead Space series.
Homefront (had good ideal but wasnt presented well)
Crysis 2 (Good story/ideal but dragged a little to end!)
Fallout 3

Thats all from what i can remember. Im sure theres more but cant remember them well.

Mass Effect and 2.
Portal and 2 (when I got to the bit with the ship I was like "AMG!").
Deux Ex.
HL2 +Ep1 +Ep2.

All good stuff.

I would have to go with some of the older stuff like Planescape toment and NWN2 Mask of the Betrayer.

Also some of the pre-EA Bioware titles like Baldur's Gate series and Mass Effect 1

More than one but I can't choose:D

I loved the Dead Space games' story

Liked Fallout 3's aswell...

I think my favourite was Heavy Rain's though, I got really immersed in it :p

the Halo universe as a whole, the games don't do it justice however, one has to read the expanded universe to truly appreciate the story...:p

I agree, when comparing The Fall of Reach to the game there's just no competition.

I would have said it's impossible to pick a 'best' though. A lot of really good stories, but nothing that really stands out as above all the others.
