Hi,

I'm building a pc for a mate, and the budget for the cpu is about £100.

So what's the best processor for the money?

The machine will only be used for office apps, nero, surfing etc. etc., purely the bog standard stuff, certainly not games. I'm up for overclocking, but sticking to the stock cooler and volts if poss. Not bothered if it's an AMD or Intel, but if I'm honest I'm leaning towards a Core 2 Duo.

Cheers!

Also note some boards hit relatively low FSB walls with the 4300/4400 CPU.

So do your homework first, otherwise might be better off buying a cheap 6000 series.

You dont even need a c2d if you ask me mate. Get a 3200 venice or something for a tenner.

Used mine for over a year, run all the top end games on it to. Save some cash :)
