Currently gaming at 1080p although that may change towards the end of the year. 4K gaming currently not essential.

The 2070 Super will be a massive upgrade for you. And it's a fantastic card. The rest of your system is fine.

That's the card I would get if I was in your situation.

You've genuinely just spent £660 on a 2070S? You could get a 2080S for less than that, I'd never pay more than £450-500 for a 2070S, and personally speaking I'd still pick up a 5700XT for £330 and enjoy near identical performance. There was even a guy on the first page that specifically told you to not get the card you've went for:

Any decent 2070Super will be fine. MSI gaming x, Asus strix, 3 fan Zotac or Gigabyte (not the aorus). EVGA do good cards too, FTW3 for example.

Even the PSU is massive overkill, you'd have been fine with a good 450-550W on that system, I can see getting a 650W to give you plenty of room but 850W is almost double your power requirements.

For the extra money you've spent you could have got a 2070S, a new PSU, and an upgrade to a Ryzen 3000 platform.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £864.96 (includes shipping: £0.00)

Same system but with a 3700X:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £964.96 (includes shipping: £0.00)

If you reused your current RAM and sold your motherboard and CPU you would have came in under what you've just spent and would have a better system.

If you really wanted to go for a higher wattage PSU:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £89.99 (includes shipping: £0.00)

cancel that order, you've been riped off
The graphics card has come courtesy of the tax man, so I dont feel too bad throwing a bit more at the higher end 2070S series.
Appreciate money can be better spent in other areas. PSU was £120 including delivery which was ok....

There's literally 2080S, decent models, available for £600-650 if you look around.

Spending £170 + more on one 2070S over another 2070S where the performance difference will be a couple of percent if there's any at all is not a 'bit more' tbh.

It's your money, but you've spent more for less.

Dunno man. That's like saying you paid Audi money for a Dacia...because it's a higher end Dacia...
Makes zero sense at all.

Don't forget the roof rails :D
Oh and the black pack...

And the go-go-faster stripes

At least he didn't buy a top tier 2080ti I suppose.

Would be like that roof-box Koenigsegg released a few years back.

struggling to find a 2080S anywhere around the 650 mark in stock anywhere. Are you referring to the Palit Gamerock?

Right order cancelled... I want a 2080S and will upgrade mobo/CPU later in the year ;)

Nope.

You can find the EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Super XC for £654.

I saw the MSI Ventus 2080 Super for around £630 the other day.

The Gigabyte Windforce 2080S is going for around £670-680 at the moment also.

From what I can see 2080s mainly start at over £700

There's only six left in stock for the EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Super XC btw.

I'm sure you'll find it if you look, can't really leave hints unfortunately but it is a pretty major international company that sells all sorts of stuff.

Crazy price for a 2070S at least £150 more than should have paid. Either the Windforce or ASUS Super Dual would have done the job around £150 cheaper from OCUK. That sort of money (and the sub £1k subject header) you might as well have got the 2080S.

Yep Gray2233 just seen Windforce 2080S at around that price. Also the MSI Super near me for £676
