Best sub £250 graphics card?

I think you were influenced by the offer of the free fibre optic Christmas tree! :D

No because you overpaid for a GTX1060 and its a poor card for £300.

Its a third faster for £50 more.

You are paying £300 for a 60 series card when the last 60 series cards were £150 to £200.

Around £250 is the max you should be paying for any of these cards, otherwise the GTX1070 looks better value.

TPU is using older titles too - in newer titles the GTX1070 is probably much faster once you start turning details up.

Edit!!

Look at the diference between the FE and the MSI card - its not much at all.

What do you expect for a 120W TDP GPU??

How far does one keep going? I could pay an extra ....blah blah.... and get a ....blah blah....

This card has great reviews, is quoted as being one of the best 1060's available. I didn't really want to go to £350 and at £350 the brands are dubious (KFA, INNO3D). I would rather get a good 1060 than a crap 1070!

Each to their own! :p

Dont listen to them, be happy with your purchase it looks great! There's always something better for £X more....I'd slap it in your machine and have fun gaming! :D

This is just personal preference. The build quality of the boards and heatsinks just always seems flimsy on amd cards to me.

Nvidia is my personal preference. The build quality on my evga 780 is outstanding.

I always feel nvidia cards are smoother and more consistent in frame rate too. Although I have to say I haven't actually used a 480 so can't comment on this specific card.

My personal preference is the inverse.

AMD is my personal preference. The build quality on my RX 480 is outstanding.

I always feel AMD cards are smoother and more consistent in frame rate too. Although I have to say I haven't actually used a 1060 so can't comment on this specific card.

I would rather get a crap 1070 than a good 1060! You can run it at stock clocks all day, it'll keep nicely cool and kick sand in the 1060's face.

Apart from the 970 obviously, which was mis-sold by NV.

I find AMD better in all respects, including price, but that's just my personal preference, although I wouldn't recommend an AMD card with crippled RAM.

Installed and running well, Battlefield 1 beta running on ultra at around 90 - 100fps and GTA 5 looks stunning so am a happy bunny! thanks for all your opinions!
