Best supermarket sausage patties

never bought the frozen ones in packets but a Rustlers sausage muffin with the muffin toasted, sausage done seperate and adding a fried egg is pretty good for the cost/time/hassle factor....also no temptation to use up the packet of muffins you'd have to buy and sicken yourself of them!

I have also been on a quest to perfect the home-made McMuffin, these are great:

I'm pretty close now, you'll need a bag of MSG to get the taste of the patty the same, but they put a vegetable mix spray on them too which I can't seem to nail down, that's the last piece I'm missing.

Also cleaning egg-rings is the devil.

My friend does a lot of work for Maccies as a food technician via Kerry Group and he said they use such a specific ratio of sodium/MSG compound ingredients that it's almost impossible to replicate. I agree though that adding a bit of MSG certainly helps homemade counterparts. If you've not tried the Aldi ones id recommend them. The consistency is a lot tighter and more similar to the Maccies ones in that respect.

Thanks mate, I'll defo give them a try. Yeah it's tough going trying to get that last bit of taste in there

The Aldi ones shrivel up to a tiny little pattie when cooked. I used to buy the Asda ones and they were ok but they dont seem to do them anymore same with bacon chops.. :(

I do sometimes get a couple of blocks of real square sausage shipped from Tarelgin but the price has gone up loads since i last purchased some and i cant really justfiy £30 for a couple of blocks.

Go find a good butcher. My local butcher does award winning lorne and pork links. Stick either on to a well buttered crusty roll with cooked onions and you've got a delicious meal.

Different thing really.

The idea isn't getting a good sausage patty. The idea is get one that taste like McDonald's....what you suggests no doubt taste great, but not the OP is looking for.

edit - sorry for the 2 week late quote!

I use coated ones, and they never need cleaning (well they obviously go in the dishwasher) FYI.
