Happy with my current build but would be looking to get a 4070TI around christmas time. Currently have a 3060ti and a 5800x3d

Just wondering would the best time to buy one be when the 5x series is about to be released, or even on the first week of the 5x release ?
I'd assume at this time that online shops will be getting rid of the 4x series for a better price ?

Thanks

Shame that, I thought the prices would come down. And the fact they are going towards AI than PC gaming ain't good.

I would consider an AMD equivalent card 7900XT but they are the same price as a 4070ti.. I also sway towards NVIDIA for ray tracing and the fact I can use premium aftermarket cables.
On Overclockers and similar I see premium corsair cables for " PCIe 5 " GPUs. does this include AMD GPUS or is it Nvidia only ?

Can you link them? PCIE5 usually refers to the 12/16 pin connector that only nvidia are using.

yes, this one for example. I know it isn't Corsair

After reading this thread and re-jogging my memory I can remember now that NVIDIA use a proprietary " small 12 OR 16 pin " style connector wheras AMD use standard 8pin connectors ( or in this case, 2x8 pin connectors )

Looks like I'll go with a 7800XT at the end of the year. Seems similar in performance to the 4070(non TI) but for about £500 for the sapphire ( also sold on Overclockers in October, apparently )

Also seems like I can get about £210 for my 3060TI FE when sold to my local technology exchange shop ( cant mention names on here I think )
