Best tinned tuna

For making tuna sandwiches, what's the best kind of tinned tuna to get? I opened a tin of John West No Drain Tuna Steak in Brine last night, but it was very poor quality, a lot of skin and black bits in there Was this just bad luck or is there a trick I'm missing?
