Hi guys
I recently purchased the Dell S2417DG, although it’s a great monitor the colour banding ruins certain things for me like playing horror games and watching movies/YouTube that has dark scenes, even dark hair and clothes in videos are pixelated/boxy as hell on this monitor. I just watch all movies on my old ASUS TN monitor now as the picture is much better.
It’s strange because some games like Senua’s Sacrifice for one example, seems to enable some type of dithering and the black fades/contrasts look smooth and normal, but for most games and applications this does not happen.
Anyway, I want to know your experience with TN panels and which ones you have found to be the best, colour wise. I know it’s hard to to get great colour and high hz/res in a TN panel but literally anything is better than my current Dell.
I play competitive shooters mostly so I need at least 144hz and 1ms. I’m happy enough to go back to 1080p if the picture quality is satisfying to the eye as long as it’s a 24”panel.
