Best tool for overclocking 7950 GX2?

ATi Tool.

Shows temps of each core independantly and clocks the card well.

I had mine on high performance air cooling and got a 24/7 stable 630/800 overclock.

Does rivatuner only show one core, if you overclock does it overclock both cores. If not can you guys recommend the app you are using.

cheers

a hammer, then throw it away and get an 8800gt or something.

hateful card... I was so fed up with mine by the time I got rid... install, run benchmark, fine... then oc and benchmark and the score goes down and wouldn't go back up until I reinstalled fresh.. etc.. just a very problematic card IMO.

Still, its only IMO but I hated the damn thing.

Was that on stock gpu vcore? most will only do 594-605 on stock regardless of cooling :S after that artifacts creep in - they aren't that noticeable at first but if you watch the upper right hand corner of the 3D preview in ATITool you will see flickering pixels... mine will go to about 670MHz before theres any stability problems on stock but theres some pixel corruption. With increased vcore I've hit 800MHz - but temps are unmanageable.

Had pretty much no problem with mine - the odd driver revision hasn't liked it much - but thats it.

It isn't a card for the casual user tho - to get the best out of it you need to be something of an enthusiast.

Stock everything apart from cooling.

Wasn't bothered too much with raw clock speed as it did everything i needed it to.

630 on the core and 800 on the ram. With the zalmans in place and only running @ 1200rpm the sandwiched core never went over 54c under full load and the card was silent.

@ matt100 - Surprised you had problems matey. The GX2 has been my most stable and reliable card. Clocked well and returned good stable gaming and great 3DMark06 scores.

Rivatuner and Nhancer were unpredictable and i found that only ATi Tool would allow me to overclock in a stable manner whilst also allowing monitoring of the individual core temps.

I'd be prepared to call myself an enthusiast... It ws watercooled with a full cover EK block in its own loop with an E6700ES and I tried probably half a dozen drivers and various clocking tools.

I've never had anything quite so tepramental in all my building life.

Thats nice temps - I'm tempted to put a couple of them or the accelero on mine - got the spacer kit fitted but back on stock cooling as I only run 650MHz (hits 77C). Tho as I plan on going 9 series around Feb its prolly not worth the hassle...

suprised with that kinda hardware/software experience you couldn't get it to work... mines been super stable and reliable since I learnt how to use nHancer to modify/create SLI profiles for games that don't come with one.

I did get it working lots of times, I managed a 10500 3dm06 run with it but my issue was it didn't seem very stable and lots of games didn't seem to like it probably due to the sli thing but for that sort of money I don't expect to have to fart about with it.

Swapped to an 8800GTX and I'm well happy, the only problem I have now is an £80 full cover EK waterblock that I can't sell lol!

Fancy it?

I had exactly the same problem and it was due to the card randomly dropping out of SLI. If you disbaled and then reenabled the link it would be OK again. Might have been sorted now with driver updates but it was enough to put me off at the time.

Hi

I tried atitool but it does not detect my currect clock speeds and crashes when you try to stop a test and close the app.

any other apps out there that work with this card.
