Hi guys, so my missus and I have just moved into our first house together and with having a lot more space have decided to buy a TV so we can stop watching films etc on my small monitor.

We've got about £600 to spend, can push that to maybe £700 if absolutely necessary for the right set, I'm looking for a 50" screen, but don't mind sacrificing a little size for a better picture quality. I'd prefer 4k and would need something with decent up scaling for regular tv and blu ray. Will also be used for gaming with the PS4 pro eventually too.

Ive been looking at the Panasonic TX-50DX700B 50 inch 1400Hz 4k Ultra HD Smart LED TV which can be had on that Jungle site for £650. But am wondering for the money if something better can be had?

Check out the Sony XD8088, see the review on rtings (X800D US model number). This is widely considered to be one of the best tv's in its price bracket.

The Samsung KU6400 isn't bad either but you have to live with judder on 24p (some people don't care/notice it)

Model numbers are so annoying. So many variations and none are just 1, 2, 3 etc!

I was looking at the LG 55UH668V for £599 (the 49" is £499) or the Samsung UE55KU6400 for £699. In the end I've gone for the Sony KD55XD8005 for £769 in Black Friday, but may cancel/return if a better deal comes up before it's all over.

I have heard good things about the Sony KD49XD8088 and the Samsung KU6400... Android on the Sony can be a bit slow I've heard, but it has its advantages over the Samsung. I would hope both will be seen in Black Friday deals next week.

I hadn't seen much about the Panasonic TX-50DX700B, but I'd be interested to know how it compares to the Sony and Samsung actually, as the reviews seem pretty solid.

:)

The KD49XD8088 has already been on offer in the current black friday deals.

Just pulled the trigger on the Panasonic TX-50DX700B, the reviews are all pretty solid and having gone to look at one in that posh high street retailer that offers a 5 year guaruntee I was impressed enough. Will have to get a sound bar after christmas though...

^ it's a great TV , the farther in law has that model , his only gripe it the viewing angle . I have the AX and I love it , the best thing for me is the media server ( and PQ obversely ):)

Thanks mate I can't wait to get it delivered and start enjoying it, will try and get a sound bar in the January sales
