So I have a faulty tv which needs to be exchanged. I can only go to Argos and I was hoping I could get some advice from some pros?

I would like it to be under £500 as my other model was £400 (can't afford to put anymore than that towards it)

I wouldn't mind something bigger than a 42 inch. 48 or 50 would be nice.

Not sure if you are allowed to post links from other shops here so I will just say the model and price

Sony KDL48W705C 48 Inch £469
LG 50LB561V 50 Inch £499
LG 50LF5610 50 Inch £499
LG 49LB5500 49 Inch £379

I'm not after the cheapest.. I'm after quality.

I have bad luck with tv's and they always tend to have problems so if there is a safe option I will have that please :P

Thanks in advance!

Of those I would go for the Sony, it's been between them and Samsung in that price/size range for the last year or two.

Other option would be Samsung 48H6400, can be had for £499. It's last years model, but aside from 4k is every bit as up-to-date as it could be.

The 4k unit listed above has bad reviews of light leaking, whereas the H6400 is a very solid set that I own myself and have seen recommended time and again.

edit: sorry, didn't see the Argos caveat. They do have the 48H6200, which is well reviewed here http://www.digitalversus.com/tv-television/samsung-ue55h6200-p19276/test.html
Digital versus are generally very harsh reviewers, so 4/5 is good with them. It is a little more expensive than the sony w705C though.

All things considered I'd go with the Sony

Would you recommend I spend a little extra and get the Samsung instead?

I've also noticed the Samsung UE48J6300 looks good quite nice. Little more out of my price range.

Ignore that. I don't want a curved TV that small. But I would like to know if I should fork out for the other Samsung though as its not too much more out of my budget.

I'd avoid the 4k one.

I don't think there is much difference in terms of quality between the Sony w705 and the Samsung H6400, so I'd go for the Sony as it's cheaper.

edit: The Samsung has 3D and the Sony doesn't, just FYI

Thank you :)

3D is a gimmick and I've heard its bad on that TV.
