Me and my girlfriend are looking to buy a new mattress and pillows. We just have an argos bog standard one at the moment and don't find it very comfy. We stayed at a bed and breakfast over the weekend which has a memory foam mattress and we found it really comfy.

I have been looking for the best deals and I have found a silent night one for £250 plus around £20 for two pillows.

I wondered if anyone has had any experiences with them and if so what they thought?

Go and sit / lie on them. You spend a lot of time on a mattress. I wouldn't skimp on price. I brought a new mattress last year which cost £520 and it is lovely and the pillows were £40 each. You get what you pay for and it should last a while.

But go lie on lots........Only way! and don't look at the prices before you lie on them.

I have two silentnights bought recently, on two different beds I might add. I like them but then I do prefer a firm mattress.

How long is a piece of string? I like a real hard mattress that has hardly any give in it. The wife likes soft pillowy ones.

We have a memory foam one (they sure aren't cheap!) and although it took me a while to get used to (way too soft) but now I like it (well probably got used to it), however, if I was single I'd go back to the hard mattress.

Too many nights sleeping in a tent on the side of a mountain when I was younger I guess. :)

I spent £150 on a double bed last year it is as comfortable as my cheap 5 year old single bed was. You do not need to spend a forture on a bed for it to be comfortable.

(congrats on wasting +£500 some silly people)

Buy a reasonably cheap good quality sprung (pocket sprung is better) mattress, and then get a good 3" memory foam topper for it. Trust me you won't regret it, and it will feel nicer than the expensive all in one mattresses :)
I know this because I was too ill to get out of bed for 2 months last year with Crohn's disease, and had to buy a new bed because my bones and joints hurt so much.

Get one of those orthopedic, posture correcting mattess things! I got one for £250 (super king size so i can lie flat on it and have space...) and its the best thing to sleep on ever!

Edit: haha post you bed thread! :D
