What's the best upscaler for old SD and HD footage? I'd be looking at getting the SD to 1080 and the 1080 up to 4k if possible.

It's for work, so cost is not an issue (unless it's really pricy) and it'll run on a Mac Studio (M1), maybe M4 Macbook Pros

Thanks

Dave

Da Vinci Resolve's SuperScale 2x enhanced is very good.

Also a really good video package all round. You need the studio version for the upscaler, but you can try it out on the free version with a watermark IIRC.

Topaz is really good at this stuff. It used to be the case though that it ran much better on a half decent PC than a Mac, not sure if it's better optimised in the new version but you can test it out.

You also need to find the best model that works for your footage so good to do some experimenting.

Another option is to contact a Post Production facility. This is a service they can provide, and their results will be better than yours. Try Films@59.

If it's an ongoing thing, then I'd go with Topaz.
