Best USB Flash Drive

Thanks Dingle - it is quite popular although some people find the preinstalled software annoying - do you have any issues surrounding the software that is preinstalled or any aspect of the drives system make-up?

One review said "don't get this if you want JUST storage"

The sandisk retractable ones are great - I brought the titantium one and just formatted it to remove the U3 software - I didn't understand why anyone would need it, espically is they are just using the drive for storage. If I wanted to run the applications then I would just install them from the USB drive onto the host PC.

Another vote for sandisk.
I have several (including a titanium) and I love not having the end cap to lose.
I also got rid of the U3 software.

I also have a re-tracable Samsung which is not seen on some USB ports.
No such problems with the sandisks.

I recently got 2 Cruzer Micros for someone, and the didn't come with the strap my others did.
No big deal, but I thought they had missed out on some cheap advertising.

Kingston drives are good too. I've got two from them; a 1GB DataTraveler II, and a 2GB DataTraveler (which, ironically, is over a year newer than the DT II). Both have been really good, and my two housemates who also have the same 2GB ones haven't had problems either.

Looking at those SanDisk ones myself though, as I want to get a solid, reliable one for my dissertation work this year. One of those Corsairs with the LCD-like display would be cool, but they're pricey.

Hi, I've just got a 4gb cruzer and I can't say I'm too impressed either with the rubbish reinstalled on it. How did you go about fully removing it?

Go to the U3 settings (from the icon that appears in your taskbar when you plug it in).

There's an uninstall option somewhere in there. :)
