Best use for an SSD...

have you bought the software? if you want to you can, create a 120-130gb partition on hdd and do a back up of ssd to that, use rest of hdd for storage

windows will let you create a partition

Hmmm, that's an idea...I haven't bought it yet, I'll have a think!

Which do you think between Acronis and Paragon? I'm reading on both sites what they do, Paragon seems to offer more and is a bit cheaper but most of the features are new to me - being able to create a clone of a boot drive whilst using the boot drive is magic to me!

ive used both a few times, acronis true image is a bit more technical, and ive had one eroor with it for some reason trying to clone ssd to hdd, parogon is much easier to use and no issues when cloning ssd to hdd for back up/formatting ssd and cloning back to ssd

worked fine,and quick

Hello BigCheese :)

You might want to consider, if a program hasn't done it already or if you didn't move already, the Users folder too as most apps will store data in that folder too and your win7 account settings etc. :)

I have the same motherboard as you do, and run a SSD + 1TB WD on the side in the Intel SATA ports. Have Photoshop/Lightroom/Win7/EVE on the SSD and the rest I run from the WD just so I don't fill the SSD immediately.

Some programs have a huge benefit from being on the SSD and some just didn't really care. WoW Client which is a behemoth 28Gb had only benefits in terms of loading screens being faster, gameplay was exactly the same so moved it to the WD. EVE is just faster all around on the SSD so I kept that there. Photoshop is a lot faster on the SSD in terms of response so kept it on the SSD too. Don't know if this helps. :)

Personally I think anything you use a lot or constantly, should be on the SSD because it'll make you happy while using the programs. :D
