I’m currently with Newshousting.com on the $14.99 deal. I’d like SSL encryption and this is only on the $20 deal. Should I pay the extra (not a huge amount but still…), or would anyone recommend anyone else. I’m currently with Virgin and make the most of the 20mb connection so the deal must be unlimited (and SSL).

Cheers

Thanks, had a quick look and it looks very good, i assume people (on here) have signed up and are happy with the speeds etc?

i looked in to this (there was a massive thread a short while ago)

and it seems that astraweb was the preferred option

i have subscribed, but still not worked out how to use it :(

I went from Giganews to Astraweb around 6 months ago and have zero complaints.

Maxes out my 20MB connection, cheaper and offers SSL with good retention :)

I think pretty much everyone here who uses usenet, uses astraweb.

God that looks weird written down like that.

sound like i've been doing this all wrong! I'll get with times and sign up for Astraweb!

I suppose NewsLeacher is also no good then? (as i use it)

Cheers

I use newsleecher (still have a free active supersearch licence from leaving giganews *touchwood*) and it works fantastically.

I use sabNZB+ on my server/download box, and Newsleecher for any 'local' downloads on my main PC.

Do people not even search any more? :P

I’d say if people searched you could find everything, but where would be the fun in no new posts? Also people want up to date information and ‘the best’ changes with time...
