the LG 34GN850 looks great but is also the best part of a grand
I've seen comments that the 34GP83A is a rebrand of the one you mentioned that's cheaper or something as I've been seeing people say to look for that one instead, but that's been comments from Americans so I dunno how it works out over here and if we get them, and I doubt it'd be at the equivalent (as 800 bucks is £580, but that wouldn't happen, haha).
I was looking at the Alienware 38" but a few people on one of the threads said the same thing to me but I did have a lower spec GPU (2060S), so I decided to change tack and go with the iiyama 34" IPS instead and save the rest for a better GPU when I can get my hands on one Got the monitor this week and it looks pretty good so far, very little backlight bleed. There is a very slight darker tint over towards the bottom right corner but nothing really noticeable unless you've got a fully white screen.Interesting, will have to keep an eye out if they start selling that model here.
38 looks brilliant but I worry that current GPUs aren't quite ready for the higher resolution, extra million pixels over the 34" ones! A 3080 already doesn't hit 144 at plain old 1440p in some newer titles

Really like my acer x34p, bet you could find them cheap now as they are a few years old
I think the best value at the moment is probably the Acer Nitro XV340CKP if you value response time/low ghosting, has a good write up but it is flat.
Looking for a curved 34" IPS personally as I'm worried flat will be uncomfortable for games and VA is out the window for me because of black smear. Doesn't seem to be huge amount of choice with ultrawide IPS, the LG 34GN850 looks great but is also the best part of a grand... Hoping a few more options come out soon
Been looking on and off for a few months, there doesn't seem to be a lot out there that ticks all the boxes without costing over a grand.I lurk on the ultrawide subbreddit a bit and for 21:9 everyone raves about that monitor or the alienware ones (I think the new one would be AW3421DW, dunno if we get it here or if it's just the older AW3420DW) with some folks saying the alienware ones have better QC but are a full grand in cost... the win the lottery monitor for me would be the 38 inch one, which is apparently on some kind of sale at the low low price of 1.3 grand, haha.

That one's flat, right, how close to the screen are you sitting and have you noticed getting any eye-strain if stuff is nearer the edges? Are you using it primarily for work stuff or gaming?
Those are still pretty pricey from what I could see, if you're spending over £800 on one then that's more the realm of the LG and AW ones... unless you're talking about trying to get one 2nd hand.
I'm sitting roughly about 2.5 feet away. I'm using it for both work & gaming, not had any eye issues or headaches so far. If you sit in a bit closer then the image does fade a little towards the edge, but that's to be expected on a flat screen I think, certainly one as wide as this. That one's flat, right, how close to the screen are you sitting and have you noticed getting any eye-strain if stuff is nearer the edges?
