Sorry if this has been asked loads of times before (I'm sure it probably has  ).

Anyway, I need to make a fairly quick decision on which value type 2GB set to get for a system I'm building. I'm hoping that whichever I get will last 12-18 months minimum so want to make a decent choice. A little bit of overlocking potential would be good, but it's not essential.

The 2GB sets I'm considering are:

Geil Value (£111.57)
Corsair Value Select (£111.57)
OCUK Value (£105.69)
Crucial PC3200 (£112.68)

As you can see theres very little between them in price.

I'm finding it difficult to choose, so thanks for any pointers on which is the best to go for out of these :)

go for the Geil, I have my set running 2.5-3-3-6 @ 216MHz with 2.7V, might have got a lucky batch with em though. Value RAM doesn't overclock very well anyhow, whicever type you use so it doesnt matter which you choose overclocking wise. But I'd reccomend Geil anyday :)

Agreed, GeIL value is actually pretty decent despite its "value" name

I got Corsair Value Select 2gb PC3200 kit from a competitors today only special.....came with Samsung UCCC ic's, same as the Gskill HZ's and OCZ 4000 XTC.....have had it at 275 1:1 on my Opteron, no problems

Been using Geil RAM for a few months and it's been fine - even teamed up with 2 x 512Mb Crucial PC3200 sticks.

275 1:1 though?! I tried a quick 250 1:1 test and it just BSOD'd.

Im facing the same problem here, have seen them at a good price also in a "today only" section, i wonder if its the same supplier.

I tried phoning them and asking them what chips are on the boards but they say the cant tell me, as they cant go down and look :(

I must admit I'm quite tempted by the Corsair Value Select as it's the same price as the GeIL Value, but as theres no guarantee of which chips will be used I think I'll take the safer option and stick with the GeIL Value (unless OcUK have a this week only offer on the Corsair with a good saving :) ).
