Best value upgrade for current machine?

Hi,

Debating when/what to upgrade my current machine to:

Intel Core i5 4670K, 8GB DDR3, GTX 970 on a 27" 1080p VA BenQ monitor.

Would it be worth upgrading the monitor and graphics card with the following?

My basket at Overclockers UK:

• 1 x Asrock Radeon RX VEGA 56 Phantom Gaming X 8GB HBM2 PCI-Express Graphics Card= £248.99
• 1 x AOC Q3279VWFD8 32" 2560x1440 IPS 75Hz FREESYNC WideScreen LED Monitor= £219.95

I only manage to game for a few hours a week but I'd like a bigger monitor with higher resolution. Seems daft to spend almost as much getting a smaller 27" monitor with G-sync to use with my 970. I don't play competitively, mostly strategy games, some L4D, CS:GO occasionally.

I'll then upgrade the CPU, motherboard, ram and storage at a later date.

Another option is a 4K monitor with Freesync and the Vega 56?

Id personally go for the top selection.
Plus the vega 56 wont have the grunt for gaming at 4k but would be perfect for 1440p

1440p is the sweetspot for gaming (especially if only paired with a V56) - and if you could afford it i would go for this flavour of 56 over a noisy reference card:

Nothing that you would notice as a casual gamer - plus you have nothing to compare it with.

If you're hanging onto the setup for a while longer i would sell the 8Gb and insert some second hand 2 x 8Gb sticks.

(Preferable to have 2 x 8gb if clocking as less strain on IMC)

You better wait for release of Zen2 before considering upgrading CPU.
9900K level processing power likely drops to sub £250 price level, with hundred more getting 12 cores/24 threads.
Release should be in Computex month from now.
