Best Venue? Nottingham Rock City OR Wolverhampton Little Civic?

I'm going to see a small band at one of these venues, they're not coming Manchester/Liverpool way

Never been to either, which is the best venue, best area and are there hotels near the venues?

the downstairs bit of rock city is about the same size as the Little civic

so i would choose the nearest

dont know much about the civic, but rock city you'll get the night out after which is always a bonus
