Best video converting software to put movies into imovie

Hi guys, Ive got some random files - .flv files , that I want to convert into a recognizable file type for imovie.

Im a noob to imovie , and this will be my 1st time using it, so any help in regards to this would be great

Install Perian and it will make Quicktime recognise .flv and you should then be able to import it into iMovie.

But, it doesnt work - in imovie, i go on file / import movies / then find my file, but it wont let me click on it, so it does need to be converted.

Unless I can get my movie on imovie any other way?

Convert it to .mp4. Should work then.

Are you using iMovie 08? It's rubbish! 07 is a much better program.

Just using what came with my mac mate - can I get imovie 07 for free seeing as I have 08?

EDIT - found it assuming imovie hd 6 is imovie 7?

Well you shouldn't have spent so much on the new MacBook. Anway, VisualHub has been discontinued. Shame that as it is very good at doing video conversion and now I have no idea what replaces it.

Only had a mac about 2 weeks and been using this, although I haven't tried it with flv files yet. Cool bit of kit.

new pre release version of Handbrake can convert Video files too!
