Hi

Whats everyone using to convert their video files that are not supported on the PS3 to a codec that is?

I found 3GP but its dropping the frame size of the video and making the result a bit pants IMHO.

Thanks

Opps... If just refering to standard AVI files the kind you would just happen to find on the net but are in a codec format which the PS3 dont support.

There are various reasons why some avi's don't work and it's very hit and miss you may find a solution to one that doesn't work on another (as I have found) I have avi's that domino the others so the ps3 won't play anything until a reboot then I have some with picture and no sound and some with sound and no picture.

There is no simple click this and it will fix it solution unfortunately

AVIDemux, You open a movie. Check what the current container holds, And then if it's for example a AAC audio codec with 5.1 surround sound. (A problem i had with 360 a while back) Then I simply altered it to a 2 channel AAC. Didn't even have to touch the video. Took 5 minutes. And the AVI worked fine then.

AVIDemux is pretty much the best tool for sorting out your movies so they all work. As you can swap and change anything inside the container with it, and it's very simple and laid out.
