Best vista for me?

still on windows xp but heard most of the original problems with vista are sorted and it all runs fine. so now i'm planning on buying it to replace windows xp, what's the best version for me to get?? is use my pc mainly for:
Listening to music
Gaming
Windows Live Messanger
Browsing the internet

i would say home premium

How long have you had your pc? I would say get oem if you think you won't upgrade your motherboard within the next 1-2 years

had the PC about 2 years now and the only thing i haven't upgraded is the motherboard, but seems to be working ok so not looking to upgrade yet.

What has home premium got over home basic and why do you need premium ?
the time to get vista if you have xp is when games perform significantly better on vista imo.
If you are bored with xp try changing the look and feel of it such as msstyles for xp.

Yea but what has premium got that you need over basic if you game music etc ?
the only things I can see are media centre ? who uses windows media player when VLC is 10x better ?
and aero which is no big deal

good point actually, the only thing i can really see different that's maybe good to me is "All-in-one media center functionality makes any room a media room using Windows Media Center and Media Center Extenders". but i'm sure it's downloadable from somewhere.

I think you should check out msstyles for xp if you are bored of xp before you go spending money on something that isn't needed.

it's not really that i'm bored of XP, vista just more upto date and with directx 10, stuff like that now making me want to go to vista.
got a system that's now capable of running all the high-spec games, why not run them at there best.

i just want to keep everything more upto date, updated most of my system so might as well do the operating system.,

Aero is one of the things that makes Vista nicer to use. It's a very nice interface, far better than anything XP has to offer.

No I like vista am on xp and am installing vista 64bit ultimate tomorrow.
Edit gone back to xp had issues i couldn't resolve with pes6 anyway from my impressions vista is just xp with a load of bloated stuff you don't need and a fancy GUI.
