Theres a vista transformation pack lurking around, i tried it out and it looked pretty decent! Had all the sounds + fonts too.

As for the fading effect on windows, i dont think this can be achieved? You can use windows blinds to get see through windows etc, just like aero

Avoid the transformation packs.

Seriously, they majorly screw up your pc, it'll be a reformat job.
