Can anyone recomend a good VNC program for Win7? I was using ultraVNC, but it has really been playing up a lot after a re-install and Im losing patience.
After working well for ages, I started getting vnc authourisation failed messgaes when trying to connect, even though nothing had changed. After playing around with no success, I re-installed the program, and now I can connect to the remote machine, but get one of two scenarios
1) After inputing my password, I just get a black screen (I have seen postings saying that this is due to the Aero desktop, but I don't run that, it is disabled..)
2) If I RDP to the remote machine, log off and then try to use vnc, I get the login screen for win7, but no response from the remote mouse or keyboard, so I can't login remotely, nothing I do seems to make any difference.

Using RDP is no good for me as it uses a custom video driver, which disables the nvidia drives and any CUDA tasks stop running, which is why I need vnc

What VNC program is everyone else using with Win7??

I use RealVNC - I had to stop it starting as a service and bung the the user-mode > run VNC server into my startup folder running as admin.

Other than a bit of a work around as above, it works pretty much normally. Installing as a service never seemed to authenticate properly as it would never accept the password.

Yea it works ok - I've had no problems with it :) - just in the installation, dont click 'start the vnc server in service-mode'

Other than that, chuck the shortcut to the user-mode VNC server in startup and run as admin and it works as expected :)

Same boat here with win7

ultravnc does work , but it usually needs at least 2 installs to get it going
and also some options set , here is what I have for uvnc options

Ticked options (properties)
Poll Full screen
Poll Windows under cursor
System HookDll

Ticked options in admin properties
Remove Aero
Remove wallpaper
Enable blank monitor
Enable Alpha-blending Monitor blanking
Capture Alpha-Blending

Not sure if you are able to install a client, or want access when unattended, but Teamviewer works fine on Windows 7 although you need the remote client to tell you their client id and connection password.
