dont let it sleep?

set the energy saving settings to just let the screen sleep and not the mac.

thats the cheapest way/only way i can think of without going the NAS route with Jailbroken ATV.

its a shame really, i think the atv would sell so much more if things such as xbmc and plex were available without jailbreaking.

The Western Digital My Book Live NAS has itunes server support. I've not set it up myself but I've been looking at getting one. £110 pounds for 2TB and your own cloud server can't be bad.

thats what i have, but dont be fooled by the itunes server on NAS boxes.

it merely just shows on itunes as another share. you cant play files on the atv without them being in your itunes library on a running mac/pc.

its a great little nas though.

i have an atv2 jailbroken so can play files directly from the nas. works great.

Hmm, what is a recent problem? If your Mac is set to wake for network access, you will be able to access the library on your Mac from the aTV.

If for whatever reason this isn't working for you, modify the power setting so your Mac sleeps/wakes at the times your likely to need it, e.g. sleep from midnight until 5pm when you're back from work, or whatever...
