Best way of measuring CPU and GPU load while gaming?

As title what's the best software to measure CPU and GPU usage while gaming? I'd be interested in Average and Max load under different settings

not sure about cpu load.
but doesn't msi afterburner display the gpu load, temps and fan speed if you leave it running when gaming, http://downloads.guru3d.com/MSI-AfterBurner-download-2392.html
or also gpu-z, http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ you can save a log and then analyze it later

edit. in windows 7 or vista try the performance monitor.
