Any ideas on how best to access this loft on a [semi] permanent basis, it's only going to be used for storage, am currently halfway through flooring it and can only really access it via a set of (outside) ladders I have which doesn't seem suitable long term. The trouble is to the right of picture is a door, and the wall in shot is just in the way.

It's not really possible to rotate the hatchway either, as the foot of the step ladders would be over the staircase down.

I think I'll have to move it entirely, but just wondering if anyone has any bright ideas before I resort to that..

depends on your budget,

if you don't mind spending a good few quid get an electric loft ladder, you'll get a basic one for about 600 quid upwards, no mess n faff just press the button or the remote depending on what one you go for.

either that or a traditional loft ladder and a long hook

I'm not sure you've understood the pic or not? I can't fit a traditional ladder because the wall is in the way. I'm using a roofing ladder to get in and out at present, but its not really permanent, nor safe for transferring items into/out of storage.

So I can stick the ladders in at a steep angle, with the tops poking a foot or so into the loft, but a proper loft ladder needs much more space.

hmm, if you want to use it on a more regular basis might be worthwhile relocating the loft hatch and doing it properly.

wont be cheap but it will be a lot easier to gain access and do so safely
