I have some Artic Silver 3 I bought some time ago and have lost the instructions. So way is the best way to apply this stuff (between CPU and heatsink)? I remember you need to get it really thin.

Also is it worth buying some AS5 instead?

I discovered this morning that I'd mounted my cooler the wrong way round. Oops!

I put a rice grain sized amount in the middle then put the hsf on and give it a little twist.

There should be instructions on the arctic silver website.

1000 posts! whoop! :D

Credit card

The instructions on the Arctic Silver site do not use a credit card - at least for Intel Duo. Instead you apply a line of TIM down the chip and then stick the heatsink on top without spreading the TIM yourself. I have gone from 42 to 26 idle using this method!

Cool, everyone has different ways, i just find using a cc easiest for me.

Going from 42 to 26 idle?? It was probably a correctly seated hs that made the large drop in temps rather than the TIM ;)

Clingfilm on the top of your finger, makes it very easy to spread nice & even .Works well for me ;)
