Hi,

I have had an oil seal at the back of my engine start leaking oil out when hot. Now I have changed it the oil leak has stopped. Now the only thing is I have a fair amount of oily dirt caked on my engine bay, engine, gearbox and the chassis around there. What is my best option for cleaning this off? I remember seeing engine bay steaming being advertised, the only thing I worry about is the whole issue of large amounts of water in the engine bay.

I'm also considering doing this. Local Polish (yeh Polish) car washes do engine steam cleaning for £20. It seems like a decent price for cleaning 10 years of dirt and grime from the Focus engine bay.

This is how they do it

If you read past some of the stupid comments, some of them actually do sound like decent advice.

Are you sure that is proper steam cleaning? He'd have some serious scalding issues if it was...
