Can someone advise the best way to connect a second tv to the 7950.

The main tv is connected to the card via hdmi. The card has 2 mini display ports and dvi.

The card came with a display port adaptor, am I best using a hdmi to dvi cable or use a Mini DisplayPort hdmi adaptor to connect the second tv? Thanks

yes it should do, not sure on AMD cards if it can run 2 separate streams or if it can only replicate the same stream to both TV's or what, you'll need to check your various sound settings to what options you have available

It also depends on the adapter, not all of them converts it correctly to also output sound.

Best way to check is to right click the speaker icon in the notification area of Windows, and click playback devices, there should be two AMD High definition Audio Device enabled in the list, one for each TV. If you want sound to output from both TVs, if I remember correctly, with the latest drivers sound will only play from that monitor if the content that produces sound is on that screen. Not 100% sure on this though since I have not given this a go.

If you also go into Catalyst Control Center there's an audio tab which should allow you to fiddle with the audio.

Yeah dvi can carry sound. I was shocked when I heard sound coming from my montor using a hdmi to dvi cable on my xbox 360

With AMD you can use any 2 of the ports on your card until you get to 3 screens unless your card is a flex card..

If you go to 3 screens one of the 3 screens must be connected via an active display port converter and any 2 of the other conections.

With 2 screens you can run extended desktop or eyefinity with 2 screens and turn them into one big one....
