Hey all,
I just picked up an audio interface (a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6) and I'm trying to work out how to connect a 2nd PC's audio to it in the best way... (Note: I'm not asking how to connect it to the main PC; that's via a USB and I worked that out for myself
)
The PC I want to connect just has on-board sound, so as far as I can tell that's the usual array of 3.5mm outputs plus what I think is an optical/TOSLINK SPDIF output. The 6i6 has available either a (single) RCA/Phono SPDIF input, or a pair of mono line-inputs... so am I right in thinking my two options are:
1. PC -> TOSLINK cable -> optical/phono adapter box -> Phono cable -> 6i6
OR
2. PC -> 3.5mm stereo into regular green jack -> splitter to go to 2x mono L/R -> 6i6
Either way I'm going to have to buy some cable/adapters but I was wondering which of these is better. As an aside - I'm not that bothered about the quality... I need the audio from the 2nd PC for monitoring purposes only (it's not actually going to be recorded in the final mix)
Hope that makes sense - any advice appreciated
