I have acquired a Nintendo Wii (the gf wants to try out Wii fit!!!) - anyway my TV isn't strictly speaking a TV at all but a 32" monitor (Hitachi UT32MH70) and as such only has HDMI and VGA inputs.

The HDMI is taken up with the PS3 - anyone know the best way to connect a Wii to a VGA port? I have a component cable already so is there an adapter or do I need a new lead or do I need something like a converter as I have read somewhere the Wii doesn't support VGA natively?????

I believe that TV will accept a component input via the VGA input like my old TV did. I'm pretty sure TVs have to be able to accept the input one way or another, and this can be done using the following two cables for the Wii:

1x Wii Component (RGB) cable
1x Component (RGB) to VGA cable

Hope this helps,

Thanks,

Dave

Would that work for a PS2 with a component cable too? I always thought you needed some sort of converter to do that.

If it works with the Wii, it should work with any other component source. The Wii is only 480p, the PS2 does up to 1080i I think?

I'm not sure. I've been looking for a way to hook up the PS2 to my monitor for a while, but the only solutions looked more complex, such as composite to VGA adapter boxes that were fairly costly, often with an introduced delay in response. They were also outlawed by Sony IIRC, though some PS2s (development boxes I think) came with VGA cables, but these wouldn't function on a normal unit. I'd be delighted to know if the solution was this simple.
