So ive been using some OCZ reaper DDR3 for just over a year when suddenly I get a blue screen error and now one of the 2GB sticks is broken (tested one at a time).

Ive been in contact with both the retailer i got them from (not ocuk!) and OCZ but both have said the whole kit needs sending back since they are part of a set.

Problem I have is I need my PC for work and in the past any RMA after the first 12 months is almost a waste of time (took pioneer 8 months to replace a DVD drive, an ATI card took almost a year, in the end I got a refund for 1/10th the original value). Even 2 weeks would cost me a fair amount, so whats the best way to deal with it?

I'm wondering if its worth carrying on with the 2 current working ram sticks (was a 3x2GB kit) until I can afford a dual channel kit with a plan of using the new 2x2GB with the 3x2GB when I get a replacement (sounds odd with 5 sticks, but tripple channel still works and it avoids me needing to purchase a replacement cooler since the current one blocks the 1st ram slot). Am I likely to run into any issues doing this though?

Tell OCZ that you need your PC and ask them to send a replacement kit in advance as soon as the RMA is started. A few screenshots should be enough to 100% prove to their support the stick is dead. They then debit you the cost of the replacement kit, and deduct the cost when they receive the deffective kit.

Im going though RMA with OCZ right now, After I sent the RAM and it arrived I had a tracking number sent to me the nextday for my return.

The RMA for OCZ is good, takes awhile for the ticket to go through but after you post your looking at a 10 day turn round.

Buy a cheapo 2 gig set in the meantime and sell on, or keep after your OCZ is back.

If cash is an issue 1 gig is only about £15

i would recommend you just reduce your memory to dual channel, (unless you really need triple channel) and if you get anymore memory problem just send them all back. Since they have lifetime warranty. When you go away for a week or two just pop them in the post and when you are back you got your replacement waiting for you
