~Hi guys, got a little project on at the moment and basically this is what i need to do. I have a PC upstairs in an office which has lots of media like pictures etc on it. What i want to be able to do is show the pictures on a screen downstairs about 10feet away (probably more like 15-20ft as the cable is routed).

My question - What would be the best way to do this?

The obvious answer is a second small cheap PC downstairs connected via remote desktop or similar, but this seems like overkill.

How have wireless video senders come along?

can you route vga over that range?

What sort of interface tool could i use to control the downstairs image?

Any advice appreciated.

ta guys

Picture quality would deteriorate with such a long cable

I had the same dilema myself and ended up going for the cheap 2nd PC with a wireless card.

At the time (about a year ago) the video senders were not up to scratch but they may have improved since.

Same issue again surely?

Especially on a projector image which will only enhance any imperfections on such a big screen

If it helps I run a DVI-D cable 10 metres (30 feet) and have never had any problems. Since yours is half this I doubt there would be any problem.

You could be build a dirt cheap computer and use that, but the first option is probably more wise.

some interesting ideas guys. What about interface, say i was to run a dual monitor clone display with one main one in the office then the second attached via a long length of HDMI/DVI. How would i be able to manipulate the second monitor without bringing the keyboard and mouse downstairs?
