Best way to expand wireless network!

Hi

I currently have my router downstairs connected to a Homeplug, which is then connected to another Homeplug upstairs and then connected to my PC. However the wireless signal from the router to upstairs is awful. What's the best (and cheapest) way to extend the wireless network upstairs?

Got a spare router lying around? Where the homeplug upstairs is you could stick that router there, make into a wireless access point and that would give you more wireless signal.

Or something like a Edimax EW-7228APN which is an access point with 5 port switch so you use that to transmit wireless signal and plug your PC into it.

I've got an old Virgin router somewhere, I think its a dlink DIR-615. Would that work?

If you can turn off DCHP on it then yes.
