I have a bunch of concerts in mkv format that i'd like to extract the audio from, convert it to mp3 and then cut in to each song. After trying a bunch of different tools the only thing that has worked is VLC. Trouble is it only seems to work on a couple of the mkv's and not the rest despite them all having the same audio format of DTS.

If anyone knows of another tool that actually works i'd be most appreciative.

Thanks

What sound card have you got? My old soundblaster used to have a monitoring function that allowed you to record the sound the sound card processed.

i'm not really up with the tools but

1. demux mkv (a quick google gives loads of options) to extract audio
2. convert audio to .wav (google dts to wav)
3. edit .wav and convert to mp3 (adobe audition or audacity)

Try Goldwave, I use it for doing something similar you can just drop the video file in to it and it extracts the audio for you however, I don't think I have ever tried it with MKV files but it's worth a try :)
