after years of moving things from from one HD to another as ive upgraded my machine. and in getting ready to move to vista. it occured to me that i have a lot of duplicate files (photos, vid clips, music) which i like to remover from the hard disk, other that go thu each dir on my HD is there any programes out there that can search and flag for reming duplicate files

Do a search for a program called "Dupkiller".no worries chap. Just make sure you check thru the list on any important (to you) files like pictures as some still came up as identical but weren't in actuality. Most of them were system generated files like install gifs created on the same day, with the same size and same filename but in a different directory
