Best Way To Get Bands Updates Without Using Facebook.

I hate facebook and google, im trying to get away from using both. I only use facebook to keep up to date with all the artists and bands i like. Is there an alternative way to do this using just one site etc?

I use Twitter to do it. Got fed up with Facebook trying to force "Top News" on me and picking and choosing what I want to see in the feed.

Thats more or less one of the things i dont like too, i was getting updates from complete strangers and it seems i have no control over this. Crazy. I have never tried twitter and the term hash tag really annoys me too, is there anything annoying about using twitter or is it more straight forward?

If you follow a lot of people it can get a bit chaotic trying to keep up IME. Also the iOS app is a bit irritating (but doesn't bother me half as much as the FB one).

Ok ill give it a bash, i just assumed twitter would be just as bad as facebook but ill see how i get on. Thanks for the advice dude.
