This is going so sound really noobiesh but need a little help so thought I'd ask you fokes.

Ok I've a panasonic GS150, which came with MotionDV studio 5.3E LE that lets me transfer video off the camera. Tried this via USB but video was really poor so just been using a Firewire cable and much improved :)

Ok so I've a few questions -
What file formate should I save it as? (avi, mpg or asf) - avi is only one with an 2/3 full screen playback so I guess it's the best (also 20x the file size)

Am I right in thinking DVD is less that 1280x1024 so this souldn't be a problem.

Next step is how to make the DVD? nero tell me i need .bup, .vob or .ifo files so I guess i need a new software package and recomendations?

a good how too link would also save me some time

The resolution will be fine. Firewire is the preferd media to take film off a camera, it's faster and allows better quality, as the USB port on the camera is normally for stills and use as a webcam.

As for editing programs, I'm not sure if Windows Movie Maker will work, I know it does CDs.

I have a program that costs about £15 for a license and it allows you to convert between multiple formats. It also allows you to convert from any format to a DVD, and if you have Nero will automatically open Nero on completion of the conversion and burn to your DVD.

The program is called AVS Video Converter.

If you just want to capture and do some basic editing with some very good effects & transitions ,look no further than Pinnacle . I use Vegas ,Movie Plus and a host of other programs for that little something special but ,still rely on my Pinnacle to capture .Does a great job with no dropped frames with my Panasonic GS11 .I always use a firewire card ,would not use anything else .So ,I would get hold of a copy of Pinnacle [mines v9 ] and it will allow you to capture ,edit and write to disk all from the same program with excellent results .

If you have Nero, you must have a program called Nero Vision Express, on the first screen you can drag and drop your avi file then pick a menu template or turn off the menus and then burn the dvd.

Thanks folks

@SS - Nero needs a dvd plug in for it to work in the way you describe, and it will cost more that Pinnacle, so I guess that the way to go.

Your comments have been most helpfull - time to but me dvd-burner to good use.

Edit: Just downloaded the demo (free) and ordered Ver.8 (£3inc) :D

No Problem mate. The company I work for is a franchise so I can only speak for my branch as we don't sell anything that would compete against yourselves but I'll not mention its name as I'm not sure what other branches sell. :)
