basically my dad is having trouble with his bank, they're saying they owe him money he says he doesnt blah blah... so anyway, he cant really apply for broadband from a company because that would require his bank details, and im assuming any broadband provider arent going to give him a cash in hand contract.

he is currently using a dongle which he can just go into a 3 store and top it up with cash... but the signal is awful and he is probably paying more than he would be if he was with an ISP

any other solutions guys? we're desperate :P

If your credit rating is shafted then you've got bigger issues than getting online. Fix the root issue rather than trying to work around it.

While I agree with Caged about fixing the root issue, there's no need to go without broadband over it in the meantime. Just open up a basic bank account at any bank - it doesn't matter about credit rating for those, and everyone is entitled to one (bar certain fraud convictions etc).

That way you can give the 'new' bank details to a broadband provider and get online. It will also act as a 'safe' account if the dispute with the current bank escalates. Common sense, really? :p Good luck.

Maybe see if you're in range of a www.btopenzone.com transmitter?

If it's just a neighbours FON you'll only get 512kbps... but some places are close enough to some of BT's own big towers and can get up to 8 megabits (I get about 4mbps at work because there's a hotel a mile away with a big transmitter for all the suits).
