Just wondering, what is the best way to go to 3D for my PC? I have a GTX 460 right now, and some red/blue 3D glasses, and I am using that, its not the best I have to say. I am looking at getting 3D as a treat for getting a proper job, but for now, I'm working for a mate for a basic £5 an hour :(. I fancy getting 3D, but as said, no idea what the best way is.

Can you help?

Yes, and I'm probably the best to give advice on 3D due to the amount of various monitors I've owned, plus I never get emotionally attached. If I buy something and it's rubbish, I'll say it's rubbish and vice versa.

Just to put you in the picture

I've had....so far

Samsung 23" Gen 1 Active 3D Nvidia

Samsung 46" LED Gen 1 2010 Active 3D

BenQ XL2420T Gen 2 Active 3D Nvidia

LG 47" WL650T Gen 2 Passive 3D

LG 23" Gen 1 Passive 3D AMD TriDef

I'm a huge AV geek and spent many hours with all the new 3D monitors and TVs

My advice for PC 3D Gaming.............give up on the idea

Games are not ready, Active technology gives headaches and darkens the image even with Gen 2 Nvidia lightboost. Passive 3d (as of right now) requires extreme angles of viewing and suffers from terrible crosstalk.

Basically it's too much faffing about.

3D for movies on the other hand is awesome with the new passives.

If I was you, I'd wait a few months to see if the new Gen 2 Passive LG monitors gets released. If it's anything like their TV, it will be a winner.

I LOVED the 3D in the cinema, I have been playing Fifa 12 in 3D with my red/blue glasses and its not that bad once I relax my eyes. Is Passive where I don't need glasses?

Passive is the same (or very similar) to the cinema. The glasses are cheap and much brighter than active. Plus with passive you can get the clip on lenses for people who already wear glasses. They don't suffer from crosstalk, have a very wide horizontal viewing angle but quite limited on the vertical angle.

Active uses expensive (£60 ish) glasses which use batteries or rechargable. They are a bit heavier, much darker, and give you eye strain / headaches due to flickering between each eye/lense. They can also suffer from a little crosstalk and are limited on the horizontal viewing angle.

Thanks. I shall hold tight any way, as I don't have the £400 + for 2 monitors ready yet, as said, it would be a nice treat for getting a full time job :).
